2006
For Hazel Dixon, that obsession started in 2006. Fresh into the nail industry, she threw herself into her craft with the kind of dedication that doesn't really have an off switch. By 2009 she was competing — and winning. What followed was nearly two decades of relentless pursuit of excellence, more than 100 awards, and a reputation that became impossible to ignore.
But somewhere along the way, competing wasn't enough. Hazel kept hitting the same wall that so many nail technicians know too well — products that almost did the job, tools that weren't quite right, a gap between what was available and what professionals actually needed. So she decided to do something about it.
2014
Hazel Dixon Nails Ltd was born. Hazel started by launching a brush range uniquely customised to her specifications. Drawing from years of hands-on experience, she designed these products to enhance the daily work of nail technicians.
2016
We became the UK distributor for Akzentz, a high-end, luxury Canadian professional nail brand that shared our belief that nail technicians deserve the very best. It was the first step in building something bigger.
2018
HD Professional Nail Systems launched, Hazel's own range. Her acrylic products, her formulas, her standards. Built by a nail tech, for nail techs.
2020
Two premium gel polish lines followed, and the brand has grown steadily ever since, always guided by the same question: does this make a nail technician's work better?
Through it all, Hazel never stopped earning her stripes. She retired from competition in 2019 as the most decorated nail professional in Scratch Stars Awards history. In 2022 she received the Scratch Stars Services to the Industry Award, and in 2024 she came back to the competition floor, almost just to prove a point, competing at the prestigious Orlando Nailympia before stepping away for good.
That same year, she was also awarded Business Mentor of the Year at the Scratch Stars Awards. Recognition that her impact stretches far beyond her own trophy cabinet.
